Starting September 1, 2021, the Town of Johnstown has contracted with Waste Connections to provide garbage and recycling services to residents in Town.

The garbage and recycling services are billed with your utility bill through the Town of Johnstown.

What is the first date of service? Waste Connections will honor the current service day of MONDAY for the whole Town, however, the first date of service will be TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 on account of the holiday. Both trash and recycling will be picked up on this day. From there, garbage will be picked up every week and recycling only every other week.

Johnstown Recycles! The Town of Johnstown is excited to be offering the opportunity to recycle. Residents have been asking for a cost-conscious opportunity to recycle to be better environmental stewards as well as cut down on trash waste. Moving from garbage-only to garbage and single stream recycling option is a good change and the Town encourages residents to give recycling a try. You can use Waste Connections website as a resource to learn more about recycling and what can/cannot be recycled.

Extra Waste Connections Services: Waste Connections offers extra services for residents including the following. Residents will need to call Waste Connections to set up additional services (services more than the standard garbage tote and recycling tote).
Extra 96 gallon garbage tote: $4.00/month
Bulk item pick-up: $15.00/item
Extra bags: call Waste Connections for more details

**For changes to service or questions related to service changes, please email utilitybilling@johnstownco.gov or contact Town Hall at 970-587-4664. Please note that service change requests made during the transition period (August 16-September 7) will be honored for October billing cycle with service changes/switches occurring in the month of September.  Please hold onto your service change request until September**
