Compliments and complaints are taken seriously by the Johnstown Police Department. Complaints will be evaluated by internal affairs regardless of being submitted with or without included contact information.
Our procedure for receiving and investigating such allegations shall comply with all requirements set forth in Johnstown Police Department Policy 1008-Personnel Complaints. All complaints will be courteously accepted by any department member and promptly given to the appropriate supervisor. Although written complaints are preferred, a complaint may also be filed orally, either in person or by telephone. Anonymous complaints from individuals will also be accepted for investigation.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT AGAINST A POLICE OFFICER FOR ANY IMPROPER POLICE CONDUCT. THIS AGENCY MAY FIND AFTER INVESTIGATION THAT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO WARRANT ACTION ON YOUR COMPLAINT; EVEN IF THAT IS THE CASE, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE COMPLAINT AND HAVE IT INVESIGATED IF YOU BELIEVE AN OFFICER OR ANY MEMBER OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BEHAVED IMPROPERLY.
