Johnstown Tornado Siren TEST scheduled for 4/27

Testing Announcement - TEST Scheduled for April 27, 2023

Johnstown, CO - April 19, 2022 - The Town of Johnstown has coordinated testing of all Johnstown tornado sirens for April 27, 2023 at 10am. Testing has been coordinated with Weld County Office of Emergency Management and area emergency responders have been notified of the test. Residents signed up for CodeRED severe weather alerts will also be notified through the CodeRED alert system on their chosen outreach via phone. The duration of the test will be no more than 3 minutes and will occur through all Johnstown siren locations: Thompson River Ranch, Johnstown Reservoir (East area), Historic Downtown, Clearview, and Pioneer Ridge.

Sirens are activated through partnership between the Town of Johnstown and Weld County Office of Emergency Management. The purpose of tornado sirens are as one source of emergency communications for those working/playing outside. • Go to a safe shelter immediately, such as a safe room, basement, storm cellar or a small interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building.
• Stay away from windows, doors, and outside walls.
• Do not go under an overpass or bridge. You’re safer in a low, flat location.
• Watch out for flying debris that can cause injury or death.
