The Town hired Tait Engineering & Associates in 2020 to complete a storm water system design for the area of Old Town between N. Greeley Ave and Columbine Street from Charlotte St to N 2nd St. The Project involves the installation of 36 inch storm water line with multiple inlets to catch surface water in order to address localized flooding in Old Town as well as the replacement of asphalt to help direct surface flows to street gutters. The project also includes upsizing two 6 inch sewer lines in order to provide the cost benefit of updating all underground utilities at once prior to repaving the construction limits for the Storm water Project.
September 2022 Update - This project is complete. No further updates provided.
August 2022 Update - Throughout August crews completed work on driveways and paving. Roads are currently open to all traffic and there continues to be a partial closure of the alleyway for maintenance. The job is nearly complete and Public Works plans on doing a final walk through of the work by mid-September to address any remaining issues related to the work.
July 2022 Update - Most roadwork for Estes and Greeley is complete and roads are open to traffic with intermittent closures for paving work. Residents are able to drive along the streets that are graded and can expect paving to be complete by mid-August. New sidewalks are also being installed on Estes and should be complete before paving begins. Residents should expect to see some space between the sidewalk and the road for the landscaping to be installed after paving.
June 2022 Update - All utilities connections for this project are complete as of July 1 and Estes should begin to be graded for roadwork throughout the month of July. Fremont is open to all traffic at this time and Greeley is open to local traffic but still needs final pavement and concrete work before the project is complete. Crews continue to work hard to reopen roadways for local traffic.
May 2022 Update - The Town is still working with partners on the installation of gas lines, on final grading, paving and striping of the impacted roads. The Town is currently looking deeper into the plan for grading of the area in an effort to mitigate impact to local resident's properties, yards, and right of ways.
April 2022 Update - The alley between Greeley and Estes has been paved and for the most part, storm drainage work is complete. Remaining work includes gas line placement, grading, paving, and striping of the street. Town Public Works is working with Xcel Energy to prioritize the installation of gas lines so that the roads can be graded and returned to thru-traffic streets.
March 2022 Update - Crews are finishing up the storm drainage work on Greeley in April and will prep the alley for cement pavement to happen at the end of April. Town Public Works is actively working with the contractor to be more vigilant about surrounding area impacts during this project.
February 2022 Update - Work will be completed in the alley between Estes and North Greeley by the end of March. Crews are beginning the installation of storm water infrastructure along North Greeley and work will start on the concrete paving of the alley in March.
January 2022 Update - Work continues on North 1st and Estes with all storm water and sewer lines along Estes completed. The Town is working closely with the contractor regarding the upcoming installation of gas lines in mid-March - April.
December 2021 Update - Work is continuing on southwest North 1st place towards the intersection of Estes. All storm water along Estes has been completed and workers are now replacing sewer lines. Estes will remain open until gas line construction begins and paving takes place. Dates for closed related to gas line construction and paving will be announced closer to date of construction.
November 2021 Update - Work continues on the following streets for the removal and replacement of full width street paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, landscaping, and private improvements as well as sanitary sewer main replacements and service connections. This project includes concrete and paving work which requires temperate weather, total project completion will be determined by cooperative Spring 2022 weather.
- Continued work on the alley between North Greeley and North Estes Ave through early 2022.
October 2021 Update - Work is already underway to rehabilitate and improve road and storm drainage on North Greeley Ave from 1st Street to 2nd Street, in the alley from North Greeley Ave to North Estes Ave, on North Estes Ave from Charlotte to North 2nd St., and along North 1st Place. This project includes the removal and replacement of full width street paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, landscaping, and private improvements as well as sanitary sewer main replacements and service connections. There will likely be disruptions in street access and brief water service disruptions in the area as work is being completed.
