The Town is working to upgrade playgrounds at our local parks: ground materials as well as playground equipment. We will announce the next park identified for upgrades below. Upgrades will include replacing the ground beneath the playground from a wood chip base to a solution called “Pour-in-Place”. This new rubbery ground is safer, more reliable, and cleaner than the current wood chip base. Due to restricted funding the Pour-In-Place upgrade will not occur until 2022 and will require a 2-3 week closure for the installation of the Pour-In-Place. The rest of the park will still be accessible by the public as this only impacts the playground. The Town will announce park closures as they become relevant.
May 2022 Update - Rolling Hills Playground and new pour-in-place rubber grounding has been installed! The new play feature and rubber grounding is a safer and more accessible playground option for area residents. You can check it out yourself at anytime by visiting the Rolling Hills Park! Pictures coming soon.
April 2022 Update - Both weather and resources did not permit, so the Rolling Hills Park Update was not completed prior to April 30. The small delay should not impact the installation greatly as the new playground set and pour-in-place is scheduled for installation in early May. Crews are working hard to get this facility back up and running as the weather warms up.
March 2022 Update - If you have been to the Rolling Hills Park anytime after March 15, then you might have noticed that the playground is missing. Not to worry, the playground will be back and better than ever by May! Public Works removed the old playground in mid-March in preparation for the installation of the new playground and pour-in-place rubber grounding that will be fitted in April. While the swing set is still usable at Rolling Hills Park, it will also get a much needed makeover with the rest of the playground in April (weather and resources permitting). If you are interested in seeing the pour-in-place rubber grounding, it was installed lasted year at Parish Park playground. Pour-in-place rubber is ADA compliant, and is a safer and cleaner play foundation than gravel or wood chips.
February 2022 Update - Equipment and pour-in-place has been secured for the Rolling Hills Park and construction on the playground at the park will begin in mid-March with the removal of playground equipment. Installation of the new playground, swing set, and pour-in-place rubber grounding will take place in April. Residents can expect to see the playground area coned and taped off for safety throughout March. While the playground may be closed for use, the park is still open to the public.
January 2022 Update - The Rolling Hills Playground equipment will be getting a much needed replacement in the coming months. During this time, the playground will be closed for no more than a week. Public Works is also working on scheduling the pour-in-place rubber grounding for the play ground area this year as well. This grounding is the same at the base of the playground in Parish Park and is much safer and cleaner than woodchips.
December 2021 Update - New woodchips have been placed in some Town parks this month. The Rolling Hills Playground equipment has arrived and is on schedule for the January 2022 install. Playground closure information will be able to be found on the Town's website and social media as playground construction gets closer.
November 2021 Update - The Town continues to wait on the ordered playground equipment to arrive and once it does, Public Works will put a plan in place for an early 2022 installation at Rolling Hills Park. Playground closure information will be able to be found on the Town's website and social media during that time.
October 2021 Update - The Town is still waiting on the ordered equipment to arrive, but is still on schedule for an early 2022 installation. The install should take 2-3 days and there will be a playground closure during that time. The dates specific to this install are still to be determined.
September 2021 Update - Playground equipment has been ordered and should be delivered by the end of the year for an early 2022 installation. The install should take 2-3 days and there will be a playground closure during that time. The dates specific to this install are still to be determined.
August 2021 Update - Public Works Staff is in the process of selecting the new Rolling Hills playground equipment that will be installed by the end of the year. This equipment replacement will NOT include the rubber-grounding (pour-in-place) and will be announced as the date for the work is confirmed
July 2021 Update - The Town can confirm that by the end of the year, Rolling Hills playground equipment will be replaced. This equipment replacement will NOT include the rubber-grounding (pour-in-place) and will be announced as the date for the work is confirmed.
June 2021 Update - Either West Lake playground or Rolling Hills playground equipment will be replaced by the end of Summer 2021. This equipment replacement will NOT include the rubber-grounding and will be announced as the date for the work is confirmed.
