UPDATE 2/14/2021: Colorado Analytical has also confirmed that the water is safe.
The Town has received some calls and online inquiries regarding current water color, taste, and odor issues. Please be aware, that while these issues are unpleasant – the Town’s water is meeting the State’s standards at this time.
Johnstown, CO – February 12, 2021 – Recently, some residents have reached out to the Town about color and odor issues related to the water. It is important to note that the water is tested regularly and, at this time, is meeting State standards. That being said, the water color and odor issues do not represent the water service that Johnstown residents deserve. Public Works is looking into the issue and is working aggressively to solve the problem. As more information is available, it will be shared.
The Town has switched from Town water to other neighboring water systems and impacted customers should expect to see an improvement in water color/odor within the next 24-48 hours. If you are experiencing a water issue and would like to report it, please click here. Keep in mind that if you do not provide contact/address information, then the Town will not have a way to follow up.
As unpleasant as this is, it is not a water emergency and residents are not in danger. The Town takes all service issues very seriously, and in the case of an emergency, the Town would use whatever means possible to notify and alert residents of the situation immediately.
