The Johnstown Police Department Code Enforcement Unit provides a proactive approach by maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment through public education, compliance and enforcement.

Animal Control Information

**The Johnstown Police Department is NOT a surrender site for stray or unwanted animals**

All dogs picked up by the Johnstown Police Department are taken directly to the Larimer Humane Society.  To claim your animal, please call (970) 226-3647.

  • Abandoned/Inoperable vehicles
  • Detached trailers (no trailer shall be detached from a towing vehicle and left standing in any public right-of-way)
  • Attached trailers (not to exceed 48 hours)
  • Expired registration
  • Over-size and weight vehicles on public and private property.

"All trucks weighing over seven thousand (7,000) pounds empty weight are prohibited from traveling on all streets, alleys, viaducts, bridges or other public ways in the Town except on designated truck routes."
