May 26, 2023 - Johnstown, Colorado — The Town of Johnstown and Colorado Department of Transportation will begin construction to replace a traffic signal in the coming weeks. Work will take place along Colorado Highway 60 and Carlson Boulevard. The traffic signal replacement is in line with the recent Hwy 60 study that the Town conducted and will improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety.

The signal replacement project will take place at the intersection of Hwy 60 and Carlson Boulevard just west of Colorado Boulevard and east of I-25. Morton Electric is the prime contractor for the project and will be handling day to day operations.

This project is a direct response to resident’s needs at this intersection and comes right before the new Roosevelt High School location opens for students in fall 2023.

Travelers through the intersection can expect road work crews, reduced speeds, and flaggers. The Town reminds those driving through the area to drive carefully and cautiously through any cone zones.

The project is expected to be complete by July 2023 and will greatly improve the safety and travelability of the intersection for pedestrians and vehicles.

Travel Impacts

Daytime work hours range from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The speed limit may be reduced to 40 MPH through the work zone when flaggers are present. The project is expected to last until the end of July 2023.
